They’re Not Consultants. They’re Dealers.

I’m talking LuLaRoe here. I thought I’d come back, now that I’ve been wearing it several months, and share some more about LuLaRoe, why I love it, and…whatever comes to mind.

My almost-7-year-old granddaughter (Whose mom is a new addict) was in my closet recently and asked, “Is all of this LuLaRoe?” I laughingly assured her that it wasn’t, then glanced around just to confirm I was being entirely honest. Truly, LLR doesn’t even make up half of my closet…yet, I don’t think…but I have definitely been able to weed out a lot of other seldom-worn pieces because I no longer need them in order to have enough options.

If you’ve never stood in your closet, frustrated because you couldn’t find anything you wanted to wear, you don’t know what I’m talking about, but as I explained in It Started with a Prayer, in recent years I’ve considered morning outfit choosing a chore. I don’t anymore.

I cannot express how versatile LLR is. I do have a few “outfits,” but most of what I own goes with so many different things that I could conceivably take one piece and wear it several different ways in a single week. Also, as you’ll have seen (and will see) in some videos I’ve posted, people have found great, fun ways to tweak Irmas, Maxis, etc., to the point that they don’t even look like themselves anymore. I’m not very good at this myself, yet, but I’m determined to learn!

LuLa care is a little bit different. I don’t mix mine with anything else when it comes to laundry. I have a LuLa laundry basket, and I wash those things separately. Generally, I don’t hand wash; I put everything into a gentle cycle with cold water, and hang them to dry. One of the things I love about LLR is its tendency NOT to wrinkle, so hanging pieces straight out of the washer has never been a problem for me. I do know of others who put their clothing into the dryer for just a little while and hang them before they’re truly dry, and they’ve never had any problems with pilling or shrinkage.

I’ve heard it said that LuLaRoe is a fad that will disappear. I doubt it, truly. The company is great about designing both timeless and on-trend patterns, and several of their styles are classic as well. Most people still associate them primarily with leggings, but my most recent purchases have been dresses and skirts, and I can see having all of them for years to come.

LuLaRoe Irma – A Strapless Dress!

Okay, on this tall gal you’re looking at the Irma being a strapless top…and that’s if I get up my nerve to wear strapless. (I like my comfort zone, thank you.) But seriously, if you’ve not already seen something like this, you have got to check it out!

I may only try it in my own closet, but I’m definitely giving this one…or these three..a shot. Oh, and if you’ve still not watched the video and happen to be pregnant, she points out that this would be a great maternity option!

LuLaRoe Irma Tips & Tricks

I LOVE my Irmas! I usually just toss them on and go, or maybe put a simple knot in them, but I found this video and soon will be trying out some of her tricks. Take a watch!

AdDRESSing the Situation

IMG_3938

One tall girl frustration is that those of us who have long torsos can have a terrible time finding tops that are long enough. Even tops that are specifically designed to be worn with leggings can frustrate me because I refuse to treat leggings like pants. I want something to cover my backside and front. This means that, in many tops, I go up a size or two just to ensure I have sufficient length.

Another tall girl frustration is those cute, short dresses that we love on others but don’t dare put on our own bodies because… well, I’ve used the word obscene in reference to some I’ve tried on. BUT!

LEGGINGS!

Put one of those cute, short dresses on this long body OVER LEGGINGS and you have a look to love. Truly, I have one “top” in particular that has received tons of compliments. “Yep,” I say, “It’s a dress,” and their eyes widen in disbelief.

No need to avoid that part of the store anymore. Let’s dress it up, tall gals!

And if you’re looking for a LuLaRoe consultant…

EDIT: I used to have a friend’s name here, but since writing this piece I’ve joined forces with my sister and we are on the road to becoming LuLaRoe consultants. Check us out!

Styling the Carly

In last week’s post, I talked about some of the ways you can play with LuLaRoe’s Carly. This video gives several different suggestions. Take a few minutes and you’ll see why it’s one of my favorite pieces!

And… My sister and I are so pleased with our LuLa that we’ve decided to become LuLaRoe consultants. We’re in the queue, waiting for our call to onboard, but in the meantime you can join our VIP page and get ready to experience the fun for yourself!

Carly

IMG_4136

The Carly is one of my favorite LuLaRoe pieces. It’s a versatile dress/top that is especially perfect for tall people like yours truly. I can easily toss on a Carly and slip into sandals. I can also throw it on over leggings as it is or knot it up in myriad ways to give my outfit more interest while accenting the high-low hemline.

You have options!
Belt it or not, as you desire.
Jackets, vests, and cardigans take the Carly into a variety of settings.
You can layer other tops over it for a completely different look.

Don’t think they’re only for tall people either. Most of my friends love the Carly, and I have several friends that I can really look down on (In the literal sense, of course!).

Depending on the fabric, and how you like styling your clothing, you can potentially wear several different sizes in the Carly. I generally stick with the Medium, which fits me nicely, and the large, which I sometimes prefer. I suspect I could drop down to a small if I found the right fabric, and I could probably go up to an XL. This one really does offer a range of options!

EDIT: Since writing this piece, I’ve teamed up with my sister to start selling LuLaRoe. We’re not consultants yet, but we’re in the queue. Check  us out!

Styling the LuLaRoe Perfect T

I’ve only got one Perfect T, and it’s too short for most of these (Long torso here). I obviously need to invest in some more, because these tricks are GREAT!

And guess what! My sister and I have decided, after months of endlessly shopping LuLa sales, to become consultants! We’re still in the queue, but working on getting ready.  Check us out!

Selecting a Size – Leggings

img_3972

Since most LuLaRoe (LLR) purchases happen online, and most people begin their LLR adventure with leggings, it makes sense to address the big question: Which size? The quick, and mostly accurate, answer is that OS (One Size) fits sizes 0-12 and TC (Tall/Curvy) fits sizes 12-22.

I’m tall, but not so curvy. This made selecting my first pair a challenge. I’m 5’ 10”, weigh 160, and have a 30” inseam. Because of my height, I assumed that I would wear TC regardless of the fact that, in stretch jeans, I wear 6 and 8. I was mistaken, as I discovered in my first day of wearing these lovelies. They got baggy…quickly. I did try actually drying them in the dryer (Something you should NOT do with your LLR) in hopes they would shrink, but no deal. Before long, I knew I had just discovered my absolute favorite pajama bottoms ever. (I have them on right now, in fact!)

Yes, OS is short on me. Fortunately for me, all lengths are in style right now, so that’s not a problem. Also, while my legs aren’t big enough to fill out the TC leggings, they do push the OS leggings to their limits. Because of this, I am careful to follow their washing instructions. I either hand wash or machine wash on gentle, and I hang to dry. That way I know they’ll not shrink.

If you’re a size 12 and still wondering which way to go, consider both your height and the size of your thighs. If you carry your weight in your thighs, definitely try the TCs first. If not, and if you’re shorter, I’d opt for OS. Who knows? You may even be one of those lucky people who can wear both; then you get the best selection of all!

If you’re looking for a rep, I’d suggest…

Rock Your Roe with Patterns

Okay, whether or not you’re new to LuLaRoe, if you love patterns as much as some of us do, you inevitably find yourself wondering how you can possibly put patterns together and make them look GOOD.

This video is not perfect, but it is by far the best explanation I’ve seen on playing with patterns. I’ll be coming back to it for refreshers for sure!

Amos, the gal in the video, is a LuLaRoe consultant you may want to check out. Since posting this video a while back, my sister and I have also decided to team up and start selling LuLaRoe, so we’d love if it you’d check out our page as well.
